At your own country place at the river and mountains, let us host your escape vacation, wedding or retreat! We started the cabin business in Luray in the early 1970s; we know how to make your visit very special. Call to bring kids by to help feed chickens at the Fort. Hot tubs at Misty River Retreat; Jacuzzi at Captain's Lodge. Fireplces, outdoor pits, wood and linens included with bookings up to two bedrooms year-round. Seasonal beach rentals at Water Edge Beach Cottage near Ocean City, Maryland. More than 120 Satellite TV channels: watch sports, movies on HBO, STARZ, PBS, you name it! At Captain’s Lodge, watch action shows in the game room while snuggling up with the romantic stuff goes on upstairs. Or turn the TV off, play some CDs and experience quiet nights in Jacuzzis or hot tubs. Your choice, your escape, your moment away. Hike in the George Washington National Forest.
Captain's Lodge on the Rapids on the Rapids is a unique, secluded vacation destination in the Shenandoah Valley! With full game room on 15 acres, it is an ideal fun retreat for 2 to 22 people. Also becoming a well-kept secret for memorable outdoor weddings and family vacations/retreats, corporate, church, school and group retreats. So is the camp, by the way. Think country; think The Country Place! The Country Place offers a variety of retreat and vacation experiences for family, friends, and office. Book a riverfront cabin and enjoy our canoes. Build fires under the open stars on the riverfront, swim at night, sit by your year-round cabin's fireplace. Our list of regular groups include the orientation weekend for a local graduate school, many school and church student groups, 4-H, Boy and Girl Scouts, flint knappers, hunters, hiking/ jogging groups, friends, friends and more friends. Hike and bike on private and George Washington National Forest trails; enjoy our partnership with the Luray Caverns or the Shenandoah River Outfitters; antique in Luray and New Market; visit the Civil War battlefield; enjoy a first run movie in the Page Theater, refurbished in the style and comforts of half a century ago. Offering six small theaters, one with as few as 39 seats, you will have a most memorable experience. You can ride horses on Skyline Drive or just on the other side of Massanutten Mountain. Ski at Massanutten or Bryce Mountains in the winter. Treat yourself to fun and relaxation. The Warehouse Art Gallery in Luray rivals galleries in big cities with talent, space, but not prices. Our local artists are beyond compare. Your host Donald Liscomb has unique furniture, sculpture and aboriginal art pieces there, as do our artist children, Chance Liscomb, sculptor, Lindy Liscomb, equestrian painter, and sister Christie Liscomb Schmick with her original bird houses. You will see many original works of art (most for sale) in our cabins. Want to spend a leisurely day coming or going from The Country Place? Ask for our scenic route suggestions. Wine country, antiquing, historic, hiking: name your preference! |
